Getting the best vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Nautical beauty, steps from the beach with full access to resort amenities!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
