How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront 3 Bed/2 Bath unit (8th Floor)- Luxury Beach Rentals has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
