Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Note-worthy 1BR Oceanview
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
