How to find the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Enclave, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club - 3 Bedroom Plus - Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
