Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your family select date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes - Site 1346 3BR\/2.5BA Lakefront Living at the Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Advice for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
