Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront Condo w/ 2 pools, amazing views - immediate access to the beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
