Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • To start, have your family decide on vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanside Village 2 Bedroom Unit Walk to the Beach with Golfcart has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
