Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Palm Sands II, 3 BR Beachfront w\/Private Balcony........... has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
