Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Perfect Vacation walk to the beach (8) has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
