Our top Rental booking tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Pristine Condo Magnificent Ocean View, Lots of Upgrade, 11th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
