Strategies to get the best rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Raised Beach House in Myrtle Beach 1 Block from the Ocean! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
