Our top Vacation rental tips:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose the perfect rental:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Raised Beach House in Myrtle Beach 1 Block from the Ocean! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
