Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Direct oceanfront pools hot tubs downtown Myrtle Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
