Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • To start, have your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Direct oceanfront pools hot tubs downtown Myrtle Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before booking the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
