Vacation rental home tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Remodeled Family Friendly Condo - Steps to the Beach! Close to Attractions! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
