Getting the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Ocean Forest Villas Unit D308 - Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
