Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Ocean Forest Villas Unit D308 - Oceanfront has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
