Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing the rightvacation home:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sea La Vie: 2 Bedroom 2 Bath has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
