How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beach Getaway: Oceanfront Suite 10th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
