Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Spacious Ocean View King Suite w/ Balcony + Beach Access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
