Rental home booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. APATBV-B-Down the SC Shore-1st Floor, Ground Floor, Steps to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
