Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront New Listing! Convenient to Beach & Pool, Beachy Decor, Newly Updated! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
