Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. SummerSalt ???? Myrtle Beach! Great Rate! 2bd/2bth Ocean/Pools/Grills/Food/Music! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
