Getting the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Great Deal! Surfside Myrtle Beach - 3 Bedrooms! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
