Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. $150 activities - E-gift card when you book - Stunning Oceanfront Retreat in Gated Community
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
