Tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Close to beach, Pet friendly, Golf cart has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
