Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing the rightrental:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Two story beach house on stilts has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Advice for your stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
