How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Two story beach house on stilts has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
