Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Updated 2 BR Condo-Breathtaking Oceanfront Views- Palace 2101 and 2102 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
