Strategies to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Sun-filled Beachfront 2BR Condo at Dunes Village Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
