Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose the best rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Gorgeous Oceanfront View from the 16th Floor! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
