Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 17th-floor oceanfront condo with pool, hot tub, WiFi & beach location has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
