Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking your prefectrental home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 19th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, WiFi, pool & hot tub - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
