Strategies to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best rental home:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 1st Floor Makes A Huge Difference -- Sit & Relax on Deck Overlooking Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
