Rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Book your rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. One-of-a-Kind Oceanfront, Designer Furnished, Luxury Condo w\/ Resort Amenities has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
