How to get the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right Myrtle Beach vacation home:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Location, Location.. On the Course & a 5 minute ride to the BEACH! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
