Finding the best rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group choose the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront - Amazing - Beach Farmhouse Remodel! Book Early for Best Dates! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
