Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your group select date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. 3rd-floor studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
