Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 5th-floor oceanfront studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, call the host before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
