Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- To start, have your group choose dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 9th-floor oceanfront condo with pool, hot tub & washer/dryer - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
