Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. A Place At The Beach VI Updated 2BR 2BA Oceanfront Bld W\/Private Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
