Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful Oceanfront Villa at Marriott Ocean Watch Villas, Myrtle Beach SC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
