Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- First, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautifully Updated Condo in Beachfront Resort. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
