Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Book now for the Super Summer..family, fun, golf, shop, and dining! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
