How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Great 1st floor unit that looks right out onto the beach with direct access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
