How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Seawatch 2 BR Oceanfront with Wrap Around Balcony has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
