Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sea Mark Tower Unit 905 - Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
