Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes - Site N64 Complimentary Limo Golf Cart Included! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, email the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
