Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Ocean View 3 Bedroom Condo at Family Resort - Sleeps Up To 6! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
