Strategies for getting the best rental home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean view condo. Step to the beach, pool & Ocean Annie's. No street to cross. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
