Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose and book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Updated/Colorful / in a Family Bldg /Good Wi-Fi/ Pool by the Ocean has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
