Rental home tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:

  • First, have your group select date ranges and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Palm Sands I, 3 BR Beachfront w\/Corner Wraparound Balcony, has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
