Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Palm Sands I, 3 BR Beachfront w/Corner Wraparound Balcony, has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, contact the host before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
