Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Reserve your rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing and booking the rightvacation home:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Pool, Games, Full Kitchen, Ocean Patio has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
