Strategies to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanviews-Multiple Balconies-Steps 2 Beach-Pool-1st Flr-X-Space-Gated Community has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
